I’ve watched many careers of creators on the Internet.
One thing they all had in common was the ability to keep creating despite no one listening to them in the beginning. They created for creation sake, to make real what was in their heads, in their own way, in their own words, for the people they wanted to reach.
Many made millions of dollars from the things they created, and whether they had the goal in mind in the beginning is irrelevant. What is relevant is that they tried to put something out of the world, and it worked. They achieved their goal, they passed along their knowledge, their insight, their art, and were rewarded for it.
They were not always rewarded after the fact, but it seems the reward always lies in the journey of creation, and not in the outcome itself.
